Johnny Pootoogook is a talented sculptor and printmaker who was born and raised in the traditional Inuit camp of Ikeraqsk near Kinngate. Both his parents were artists and his Father played an important role as a community leader in the area. 

He is currently based in Kinngait where he creates art that is centered in Inuit cultural tradition. His work has been shown throughout Canada and the United States and is held in several prominent National collections including the Canadian Museum of Civilization. His sculptures and prints have also featured internationally, most prominently at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco.
